Conditions that can be treated
This treatment treats a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. It may also be integrated with periodic remedial massage/trigger point therapy. Pathologies such as arthritis and osteoporosis etc. can be helped so that the patient has better quality of life. Other conditions and accident trauma can be re-aligned so that often the problem and symptoms disappear. Each case is different and the practitioner will be able to guide you as to your treatment plan.
Since basic trials in the mid 1980’s this treatment is now well established and is supported by PhD research in the Department of Physiology at the University of Adelaide.
Remember taht treament consists of light pressure being applied to certain points on the body and thus we cannot make any condition worse as no forced manipulation takes place. Most people feel a difference as soon as they get off the treatment couch.
Here is a list of conditions that have been successfully treated with NSRT:
-
Whiplash Injuries - due to the light non-invasive touch of the treatment, whiplash can be treated quickly following injury to help re-align the body and aid healing.
-
Sciatic Pain - especially where the sciatica is caused by muscle tightening around the piriformis caused by postural problems. We can also treat nerve root impingement, but this will take more treatments
-
Disc Problems
-
Scoliosis
-
Spondyloliethesis
-
Ankylosing Spondylitis
-
Cervical Spondylosis
-
Kyphosis/Lordosis
-
Pain and joint problems due to sports injuries and accident trauma
-
Pain and joint injuries due to dance injuries
-
General back and neck pain, including back pain in pregancy
-
Arthritis Management - regular treatments help reduce pain and give better life quality
-
Osteoporosis - as above
-
Headaches/Migraines
-
We have also worked with spinal cord injuries with positive effects
-
Stroke Patients and other neurological conditions, such as brain injuries, have also responded positively to treatment, plus it helps associated problems.
Further information:
A chronic problem in which the soft tissues are stiffened will respond slowly compared to a recent acute injury. Arthritis responds gradually to this treatment, accompanied by regular remedial massage to free and mobilise muscle, but there is no instant cure for a twenty year old problem. Regular treatments will be needed in these cases, but otherwise the treatment has been designed so that continuous ongoing treatments are unnecessary.
After spinal surgery or severe trauma damage or in the case of congenital defects, the response may be limited as we cannot restore nerves or discs that are severely damaged. This treatment is safe for people of all ages from newborn to senior citizens. Safe throughout pregnancy. No clothing is removed except shoes, so it is totally non-invasive.
Nathans's Story:
by Carole Preen
Nathan was involved in a tragic accident in 2013 when he was only 10 years of age. Although he was resussitated in hospital his brain was damaged due to oxygen deprivation, which has left him with some challenges. After 6 months at Kings' College Hospital he spent a further 5 months at Tadworth. I started treating him with NSRT in October 2014. My main focus was to assist with posture and to help the tight spasms that restricted his arm movements. Below are photos when treatment started and a current photo in August 2015.
Here is a photo of Nathan taken in July 2015. The difference is very obvious. Nathan has a more relaxed and upright posture, his arms are relaxed and his wrists are straighter. The real benefit to Nathan is that he now has sufficient control of his arms and hands that he can drive himself in an electric wheelchair. He can also use a computer, iPad and feed himself. Watch this space as we continue to work with him to get him walking.
Here is a photo of Nathan in September 2014 just before treatment started. Note the position of his arms and posture in general. Despite being a happy boy, Nathan could do nothing for himself as his arms were held in contraction and his wrists were completely bent over.
